Time To Move On

I figure I’ll go with the new name Ginger, for the new LP, but before I go on please bear with me for I’ve something to say about the old LP. I never thought that LP could possibly loose all her data, when I saw the new LP, I actually cried, for I knew that I had lost a good friend. It was bit shocking for me, just like when I heard about 9/11, when one of my co-workers told me ‘ground zero’, my replied, ‘that’s impossible’, I had been to the world trade center numerous times, whether on the top level, or on the ground area, even shopped underneath with my youngest sister. Same feeling when I saw the new LP, a feeling of disbelief, but that’s life, the only certain thing is the uncertainty.

I always had a place to visit when I’ve no friend to talk to, there’s always conversations that could make me smiled because of all the silly things that some of the members were saying or carrying on. I’ve learned a great deal about the other members through reading their many posted, understanding what makes them tick, and some were kind enough to respond to me when I needed a friend to talk to, not just some black hole that you’d often think of in the outer space, where it’s cold dark and dreary. This part of the old LP I will always remember and will greatly missed, because it’s becoming a part of me, it helps shape who I am today.

I think Darly made a wise decision to go with a blog version of Lao voices online, like Nexus had posted in the past ‘from the daily ME to the daily WE’ (might not be the exact phrase), this would be a great opportunity for us to share our interest, even though I’ve a new name here, but I’m still the old Nye. As for Padek, thanks for caring, you (under another name) are still you.

I believe that one day, LP will once again be that friend to many of us.

  1. Hi Ginger,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. It’s such a moving post. I do know how you feel about this. I cried myself yesterday. When the site first went down a few times last week I thought of the worst about what if they lost everything.

I asked myself what would I do if I lost everything. I knew I have move on and rebuild. I thought if our parents can pick up everything and left Laos for a new start with so much unknown factors, then we could rebuild a site. We all have our talents and abilities.

Just look at what we have done with just the few of us posting in the board. Content can be re-create and priority. We have said what we wanted to say in the board and in comments. We are still posting whether anyone will make comment or not.

One thing for sure, people are reading our postings. :) Many might not contribute in a form of writing but they are faithful visitors. They come here years after years when they are at work, at school, or at home. While they may not speak, we are their voices.

Yes, you got that right about “from the daily ME to the daily WE’ and LP is the same LP. Sometimes when we move to a new house by force, like a fire, or flood, or natural disasters, we take what we can and rebuild.

The nice thing about the internet is the google cache. Sim even has the screen-cap of the former LP. We can always look in google cache for some good posts and repost them. I thought about making a category for archive of old LP. We’ll see.

Look, even my comment is like a reply to your posting in the LP board. Something is still the same. :)

  2. I am very touched by your self-determination and such positive views in light of disasters. It is the immigrant blood in us that sees opportunity when there are crisis - an opportunity to rebuild and aspire to achieve greatness. We have all came together because we have the same vibes. As we get to know each other more, our vibes becomes a match even greater.

  3. [...] A blog with different authors is something that I’ve been dreaming to become a part of, and this is a great opportunity for me to join the team. I’ll be writing by the name of Ginger, so if you don’t see me here, feel free to visit me at Laoplanet.net, you are always welcome there, even if you’re not Laotian. [...]

  4. Thanks Darly for sharing your feeling with me, I somehow knew how you feel; and Sim for sharing you thoughts with us, we all are in a way a lot a like, that we are fighters; we’ve managed to turn disaster into new opportunity…we can do anything if we set our mind to it, because you all have shown me that friends stick together.

  5. Sabaidee Sim,

It’s nice to see you again. Hope you are enjoying the nice weather in your area. Here we have rain and expecting more rain. Typical Dutch weather.

Thanks for your comment. Starting something new is scary but can be fun and productive. Why do we have to do things the same way all the time? We are expressing our thoughts and ideas on the net and using this tool is just another way of doing so. :)

  6. Hi there Nye aka Ginger,

As long as we are not afraid to try something new or starting fresh then we will be more than fine. :)

Sometimes we need to let go so we can rebuild. Letting go is the hard part I think. We can do anything if we want to, how bad we want to do something.

Friends come and go, the real ones stay with you. There is a Lao saying of Pheun Gin Ha Yeye, Pheune Teye Ha Yark.
