Green Papaya Salad for dinner
A continuation of my food blog for May 18th, 2007. Since I bought a couple of green papayas from the Chinese grocery store that day, what else was I going to make for dinner, if not Lao green papaya salad?

It was a good Friday night dinner.

I find it very interesting that you fixed yours differently from mine, I usually smash the garlic, peppers, and a bit of papaya till it’s a bit mushy, then I put papaya, tomato and other ingredients and mixed (smashed) well together. You seems to smash all the ingredients first and put the papaya last, just like the way my GI Joe sister does hers’.
I’m sure the outcome is the same, looks good; I had papaya salad for dinner yesterday also.
I also do it the way you do. It all depends on the mood that I am in and what kind of tomato I have on hand.
I used to mainly make it the way you do but recently I want the green papaya salad to be more crunchy. If you mix and get the dressing to taste the way you want, then add the shredded papaya, then you can tum (toss) the mixing in less time and preserve the crunchy taste better.
Then again, what do I know, lol.
However you do it, they are going to be the best I’ll ever have. Tum muk hoong never look so delicious.
it looks yummy. People I know are crazy. They put too much mak pet. They go by their age and stuff.
