Small icons under every LV post
Some Lao Voices visitors might wonder what the purpose is of those little icons that gravitate at the bottom of every post at Laovoices.

The icons above are used for social bookmarking. How does this work? If you like one of the articles on Laovoices - or any other given site - you can add it to your personal webspace by clicking on the icon. Each respective icon represents a bookmarking website such as del.icio.us, digg or furl.
By clicking the icon you can easily add the url to your personal bookmarks. For your understanding I have signed up at del.icio.us and bookmarked this particular article. Have a look.
Moreover, social bookmarking is more than simply creating your favorites online. It is also a very effective way to share your bookmarks with others (other users can see your public bookmarks!).
When your friends or the serendipitous encounter this url, they may add it to their personal bookmark space. And, the more people that add your link to their personal space, the higher this link will be ranked. That is the social component: sharing (dissiminating) and ranking by popularity.
You should try it; it is truly addicting and useful. Sign up at one of the social sites and start bookmarking and sharing! Let people know about us.

Hi Padek, I thought those are for decoration only, but I see
how they work. I did sign up at del.icio.us, but a bit
lost, can you also explain, what are ‘your network, subscriptions, links for
you, post’ and how do they work?
I bookmark this post, does that mean that I have to bookmark
all the post that I like or can I do it 1 time for LP and let it do all the
posts?
Also, if I want this on my blog, how do I do that?
I saw that I have a widget for it, but it's for the sidebar, and they are talking about, Widget title, del.icio.us login:, Number of links:, Show only these tags (separated by spaces):
What should I put for the above; can I link LP in there
somehow?
I don’t know if my 2nd comment went through or
not, here it is again under a different name, incase we’re allowing only 1
comment per user.
Also, how do I put this on my blog, I saw that I have a widget
for it at sidebar, and it read Widget title, del.icio.us login:, Number of links:,
Show only these tags (separated by spaces):
What should I put for the above; can I link LP in there
somehow? If I want it at the bottom of
my post, what do I do?
Hi Nye,
The plugin we use is WP Notable that requires a plugin and a small template hack. I think you’ll have to request it at Wordpress.com hosting since you are not allowed to alter templates code yourself at wordpress.com. Also, your permanent urls will not work under your top domain nyenoona.com (only under Wordpress subdomain Nyenoona.wordpress.com).
Your del.icio.us plugin and widget is able to display the bookmarks of one user. The tags are limiting keywords to narrow down the category of links you display. Hope this helps
Wp Notable is found here
Thanks Darly, I kind of thought that’s what it was after
asking, since I have the free version, there’s very little that we can do, but
that doesn’t bother me because to me less is more. I have a sidebar widget for del.icio.us at my
blog; I might play with it a bit to see what it does. I’ve seen some blog with
multi-authors manually linking it at the bottom of each post, just like the way
I use to do with ‘Leave a comment’.
