Planet Earth footage Similarities to Laos Lipi Falls

This footage, originally broadcasted by NHK of Japan, has similarities to Laos Lipi falls video Darly posted a while back. The falls are known for it’s impossibility to navigate a ship is home to many creatures if we seek them out.

Japanese NHK offered high tech cameras, mostly made by Matshusita (Panasonic) to Planet Earth photographers which yielded never before seen smooth-pan, high resolution images in cinematic (film-like) format from a digital camera. It’s cinema software is responsible for the effects. Colorful lizards eating bug. Soundtrack is Enya’s Only Time Instrumental.

The VariCam offers 24 frame progressive scan cinematography, delivering film-quality digital images. It also features off-speed motion effects by shooting as few as 4 frames per second, up to 60 frames per second. Price ranges between $30-50K.

  1. Beautiful clip. Wish I can have a camera like that to capture the beauty of Laos. The price of that camera can buy you a nice car and even a home in the mid-west.

    With that camera, I can have my own TV station. :)

  2. The clip looks somewhat like Laos,
    if you didn’t say, I wouldn’t have known.

    I never knew that those colorful lizards look like that
    closed up, nice that the camera can capture it so close.  I don’t think an average person would buy
    anything like this, wouldn’t be able to afford it for one thing.  I just wish for a camera that would take
    sharp images, such as being able to capture the cloud, the sunset, and view
    that looks 3 dimensions.  Thanks for
    sharing Sim, it’s good to know what they used to film something like this.
