Chongquing, China…Women Rule!

I came across an interest update news in one of my Thai magazines about Chongquing, China that the town was approved by the local government that this will be the new women town, which they anticipate for it to complete in 2 years. The new slogan for this town is that ‘women can do anything…men can’t refuse what women want’, which will be placed at the gate of the town.

One of the reasons for creating such town was to attract tourist because currently it’s not well known as a tourist town. Another reason was the legend, story told that men would give all their hard-earned cash to their wife, not just money but also allow them to have power over their household, hard to believe that this is China that we are talking about. However, the new town is not to promote feminist, but more so toward preserving the traditional culture of dance and such, performing by female. Also, if you are a guy, beware to know the law of the land (set by female), because you have to obey everything that’s told to you by female, otherwise you might have to go to court, ruled by female, and know telling what your punishment might be, you might have to get down on your knees to apologize, or even washing dishes in a restaurant for disobeying any female of that town. I thought of Darly when I read up to this part, ‘women rule’, I thought she might like to visit this town.

I thought the name of the town sounds familiar, and did more research on the Internet. I came across a blog by Clizbiz on article called ‘Reminder-Power of one’ and recognized the photo of this house on an island , so that’s where I heard the name of the town from, at Sim’s blog. Clizbiz wrote:

“Wu Ping, who lives in Chongquing, China, remains steadfast in her resolve not to give up her home despite aggressive business/political intimidation to relocate. And so, developers have been left with no choice but to start construction on their large-scale project, quite literally, AROUND her home.”

Interesting that she is already practicing her rights as ‘women rule’.

  1. Great story.  I just heard about this growing city recently too.  It's nice to know that China is changing and giving women more rights.  You can see a video "Paul Merton in China Chongqing Part1" from Youtube.  The whole series is great to watch.
