The New 7 Wonders Campaign
The 7 wonders of the world was selected some 2000 years ago. A Swiss adventurer is calling for a “global vote” to let the people decide the new 7 wonders of the world. The official winners will be announced in Lisbon, Portugal on July 7, 2007. And you can vote online or via phone, but you have to register first. Otherwise you can still enjoy the selections and browse their website anyway. I think it’s a neat concept. Unfortunately there isn’t anything in Laos that made the list. But I’m sure there are many places in Laos that still hold wonder and love from it’s people.

The Foundation, which is based at the Heidi-Weber-Museum in Zurich, Switzerland (an architectural landmark in itself, as the last building designed by renowned architect Le Corbusier). The New7Wonders Foundation, which is the body behind the New7Wonders campaign, has the express aim of documenting, maintaining, restoring and reconstructing world heritage under the motto:
“OUR HERITAGE IS OUR FUTURE.”
The New7Wonders Foundation calls on all citizens of the world to support it. Through film, television, the Internet and books, people shall be alerted to the destruction of nature and the decay of our man-made heritage. Monuments in jeopardy, perhaps in a dangerous state of decay, can be saved by publicizing their beauty and highlighting their plight to the international community.
