   I heard that the hotel is now owned by some Thai business person, does anyone know?

   I am not sure but someone said something like that to me. We have to check for confirmation.

   It is owned by a Thai group, see below and link:

   Built by a now-dead prince as a residence he never lived in,
   the Palace is now owned by a Thai group and, if this is in your budget range,
   is certainly worth considering.
