Yes, Lao food is never boring. I just had cucumber salad for dinner last nite too. I ran out of red tomatoes and had to use green ones, they were actually really good and crunchy.
Yes, Tum Anything is good, as long as you have Garlic, Ka-Pi, Fish Sauce and Lime Juice, you can turn basically anything in to a "Tum".Papayas are scarce here, so we are "Tumming" home-grown Cucumbers, Carrots, Courgettes and even Pasta (more of a Yum-Tum). Do you use Nam Pu? (Dark Crab Paste?) , it makes the Tum dark, yet full of aroma… Hmmmm…Hungry… :lol:
I can't eat Nam Pu. My mother uses it in her tum and my siblings love it.
My tum is a bit boring in a way since there is no garlic and I mostly use fish sauce, rather than padek. It still tastes good though.
