I love this song! My parents used to play this song a lot! It always tug at my heart everytime I hear it. It's a very nostalgic song, makes me long for Laos. Reminds me of living in the village with my grandma.
It's a great song. I'm wondering why it's Thai-subtitled, and not Lao, might be because it was created in Thailand, but still can put Lao subtitled I think.
Mr. Viseth's music was produced by Thai music company. There is a trend that I noticed of how Thai singers are singing Lao songs.
It is natural to see a Thai record company picked up on the trend and made a contract with Mr. Viseth to produce his new album for the Thai and Lao audiences all over the world.
It makes sense to have Thai subtitles since the majority of the Lao people that would watch this VCD/DVD would be able to read Thai. If not then they can still hear the Lao lyrics.
"..loong Kantha dai sang sa banh maung vai hai..bat ni jak pai Thay sier dai dey………………." You have got to really sing the last verse. I always enjoy singing this song. It's a fun sing along song. I hope to meet the man and have a few drinks together andd. My wishes, I hope one day Mr. K will put images that inspired him to write this song. Another one of my all time favorite Ko Viseth song is "hak sao long jang." Boon lau mau ma hen sao long jai.." I learn that in Hmong "ku lu koh hang" means "I love you a lot." Anyway…good job posting this song. I enjoyed it.
The composer of Tai Dam Lam Phanh is Sor Aounvong. It ranks as number 76 of all times Lao Hit Songs in the book Luam Pheng Lao 199 famous songs in the past and present.
So Sor Aounvong composed the music. To Mr. Sor, "You composed a great song." Mr. Ko Viseth performed it. I wonder if he wrote it. I did actually thought that it was Mhee Dum (black bear) who wrote the song. So may be Sor Aounvong composed the music, Mhee Dum wrote it, and Ko Viseth performed it. May be? I wonder what that Lao Hit Songs book rangked at #1?
K. Viseth is the Unsung Hero of Lao music! I'm so happy he is now in the spotlight again after all these years!!! Long live the KING!
This song was written by a Tai Dam and sold to a laotion singer, it about how we lost our "country" to communist Veitnam. The original writter had just passed away a couple years ago in Iowa. Thanks to Governor Ray of Iowa, the majority of Tai Dam migerated to Iowa back in the 70’s.
