Green Mangoes and Lemongrass
I am guilty of having a collection of neat cookbooks that I almost never use. I think I got them mainly for the pictures. There are also many Asian cookbooks out there too. And this new one I came across recently would be a great addition. It’s called “Green Mangoes and Lemongrass” by Wendy Hutton. I think the title itself makes my mouth water. Tum mangoes and tum lemongrass are very yummy too! But I don’t think it’s in this book. An Amazon reviewer mentioned the recipe for Lao Spicy Minced Beef made with lime juice and lemon grass is very good. I’m sure this specialty can be seen on the menu of many Lao celebrations too.

This book looks great from the cover.
I am also guilty of collecting cookbooks that I only look at pictures and read the recipes. I started out with Lao and Thai cookbooks and keep them on the selves so they don't get dirty.
Last Christmas I asked for cookbooks as well and got 4 Asian cookbooks, all in Dutch. It's going to take me a few years to even understand the recipes without using babelfish.
I wish there are more Lao cookbooks out there. We just have to wait for Chef Vienne to come out with an edition.
I'm also guilty of collecting Thai cookbooks, and when I'm at a book store and seen them on sale, I had to make myself walk away.
