  1. i think the hotel is an eyesore, but when you  get a chance to go to the top floor, where there restaurant is and look out and see Mekong, its beautiful =)

  2. I think that the hotel is a beginning of the future for VTE. Anyone looking at the surrounding area, will surely think that it is an eyesore, but every great city has a beginning, and no doubt, the skyline of the Mekong will change over the next few years. I know that people are afraid of change, but lets look at the possitive side.

  3. I’ve only seen it in photos, but I’d imagine that it’d stick out like a sore thumb because it’s the tallest and biggest structure in Laos.  I think some Laotians might get turn off because it’s a Malaysian owned hotel and not Lao owned, but with them investing so much money into this, they must have had foreseen something that most of us don’t.  I agree with Vienne that it’s the beginning of modernization for Laos, eventually new structures will be built, but it’d take time, especially with Laos economy that is crawling at the rate of a snail, or more so like a turtle.
