Following Your Dream
I found this this blog written by three young women a good read. They were able to spend one year traveling around the world. The girls have been featured in many magazines in the U.S. They also hope to write a book about their adventures soon. Maybe it will give some of us some courage to do the same one day.
Part of their travel included a stop in Laos. The blog is well written and has some nice pictures to go along too. You can read more about their travel to Luang Prabang and Vientiane here.
I believe it’s never too late to do anything. You just need to begin it now and things will come together. If not, then at least you gave it a try. And it would just be another interesting experience that will make you that much wiser.
From the Lost Girls:
“It turns out, we weren’t alone. Like millions of young women in our generation, we were plagued with doubts and fears about the paths we were choosing. Though 12-hour workdays left us little time for contemplation, we couldn’t quiet that inner voice asking: What exactly were we doing with our lives?”

“For those of you who as unfamiliar with this region of the world as we were, Laos is the thin country sandwiched between Thailand and Vietnam. Also, the ‘S’ in Laos is silent, so it’s actually pronounced like COW, but with an ‘L’.
We quickly breezed out of Vientiane’s touristy historic district and I could see that Lao’s capital looked a lot like a small mid-western city in the US. Car dealership and repair shops lined the main road. Traffic was bad. Entire families were perched like circus performers on the backs of mopeds, with Dad driving in the front, Mom cradling an infant behind and a toddler sandwiched in between both parents. Pseudo-tough guys turned to stare at me as they zipped past. Noi shouted that I should keep my purse situated between us as locals had a bad habit of snatching them.”

Hi Salat, great find, this is a very nice story, I enjoy reading their blog. Thanks.
Great story Salat to go along with Ginger's post. It's like you guys had plan for this.
I agree that it is never too late to do anything. You can get busy trying to come up with excuses not to do something or you can get busy trying to do something or to follow your dream. Yes, there are limits to what we can do but if we don't try, then we would never come close to our mark(s).
At the moment I am trying to find myself. I have spent the early years of my life pleasing others. Now it is my time to do my things. It may sound selfish and all for not being there for my parents, physically and going to work everyday, coming home and doing all the cooking and cleaning. But it is unfair to expect me to be there for the rest of my life taking care of everyone.
My dream is to go back to Laos next year and volunteer for a short time. I've been thinking about this for a few years now and I must do this before I could move on and have a full time job and be a productive member of a society.
I hope Ginger aka Nye will be ready to come by and hang out with me later. I'll be sure to keep a daily blog for you guys to read.
I think great mind think alike. I'll be able to join you for about 3 weeks max.
Sounds great. Try to take your vacation around Boun Suang Huer and Boun Tad Luang. That way you can see Loy Kra Thong in Pakse and then go to Boun Tad Luang in early part of November.
I should have some pictures for you guys of this year's Boun Suang Huer in Pakse and Loy Kra Thong too.
I'll be there to pick you up at the airport. No need for having Visa ahead, just get there and we'll take care of you. I got connections.
