Goy Pa and fish soup
My aunt made this dish since Grand-Mama can eat fish without too much effort. At the moment fish is expensive due to high level of water in the Mekong. In a few weeks when it is time for Boun Suang Huer or Boat Racing Festival, there will be plenty of fishes at the market. I don’t want to brag but this aunt can really cook. She was always the one helping my Grand-Mama in the kitchen. Grand-Mama was a great cook and is well known for making delicious Khao Phoon, Lao, Thai, and Vietnamese styles.

In a way I am teasing Nye aka Ginger with food pics. Can’t wait to see her after two weeks of eating Lao food, made by my relatives next year. Please see more photos in Lao Voices Gallery.

I think Lao foods don’t have a lot of fat content, unlike American foods that are very fatty. I think I’ll absolutely love the food, just can’t wait. As long as we don’t have frogs staring at me in my soup, I’m good.
Frogs? You have to try frogs in coconut curry, that's what Fong ordered for me. Sort of made me ate it by saying "try this, it is good" lol.
I think we have to do a great deal of walking. By the time I came back from the last trip, I had no waist.
I love frogs, as long as it’s not the whole body swimming in my soup and staring at me, I’m good, and I’d feel guilty eating it, those big white eyes. When I was in first grade, I brought frog curry to school for lunch, and the teacher asked me what I was eating because it smells so good, I was embarrassed and told her it’s chicken.lol, (my first lie) obvious that it wasn’t because of the tiny legs, and she asked to trade lunch with me and I did, she had real chicken, and she took my frogchicken. :P
Ginger…nice few seconds of haha…
