Photography Exhibition - “Lumiere du Mekong” by Peter Livermore
When I hear a Farang, as most Lao would call a white person, say such as this, I couldn’t help but to smile, I think in a sense, there might be a time in our life that we visited a place and it’d feel like home. This is what Peter Livermore said about Laos, “I love Laos, I love Lao people. It seems like in my last life, I was a Lao man. I love Lao people and every thing about Laos. Even the way I think…just like a Lao man, not in every thing thought, because in fact, I am a white person”
From News VOA.com, Peter Livermore, an Englishman has traveled to Laos many times for the past twenty years. He felt in love with Laos and Lao people when he visited Laos for the first time in 1989.
This is the first exhibition of Peter’s works in Laos. His photography is very unique in its own. His works are mainly photography of a ritual celebration of Lao people during the religion festivals: Boun Ok Pan Sa and Boun That Luang. These photos are symbol of the true Lao via expression of their harmonious faces and calm that reflected the inner soul of Laotians hearts. “It’s very little light” Peter talked about his photography. I try to capture of the un-capturable moments. The light sources I have are from moon light, candle and incent lights and firecracker lights. It’s a true beauty of Laotians that are interacting to each other through their actions, expressions that I try to capture.”
“Lumiere du Mekong”-the first photography exhibition will open in Paris, France from Oct 12 to mid November and continue in Luang Prabang from Oct 25 to the end of the year and also in Vientiane from Mid November for two weeks.

And here, I’m directing you to a Web Site that I can’t read, but beautiful photo.

Never before that Laos is so love by the world. Only if people just go there and visit the Laotians, there is that "un-capturable moment" tha can be easily missed at the blink of an eye. Juat got to be there. I suppose Peter Livemore’s soul searching has finally come to an end when he found Laos.
That looks like a very interesting exhibition, wish I had the time to hop over to Paris.
The face of Laos is changing rapidly, and one day, these images will be a part "of history", I think that those in power should make a big drive and have an official "Visit Laos Year". Let us welcome the world and show her our beauty, passion and smiles.
The French came to Laos with God’s grace behind them. "Lumiere du Mekong" will be eventful! The love between two people, Laotians and French, will show there. I want those images to be the voices of our people in Laos. Driver, are we there yet?
