Home appliance store in Pakse

During my visit to Laos in January and February earlier this year, the giant Tang Chareon Home Appliance store in Pakse was doing some final touches. The day I left for Vientiane was the grand opening of the store and so I didn’t have a chance to be there to take photos. It wouldn’t have make much of a difference since camera is not allowed inside for unknown reason.
The people of Pakse is very happy to have such a grand store for the first time in their life. The store sits on a perfect spot near the first intersection when you enter the town from the other side of the Mekong, via Pakse bridge. It’s sort of Home Depot meets Sears Home and Appliances center. At Tang Chareon, you can buy various tools to build things or go for that new refrigerator or television. Then there is even a section for your eyes wares like reading glasses for example.
It used to be that people would often make a comment on a new shop in Lao with the saying “Khon Viet ma het” or Vietnamese people made or created that store. Now the trend is “Khon Jeen ma het” or the Chinese people made or create it. This is just another sign of more things to come and how Laos is becoming China’s backyard.

No Khon Lao ma het?
Apparently not, but at least there are a great deal of "Khon Lao nork ma pook heun" or in English "Lao outside came to build a house" so all is good?
