Pakse Boat Racing Festival 2007, part 2

by Darly

For the first time in the history of the ruling government since 1975 there was a parade with candle light procession to Wat Loung, with representatives (students, teachers, and elders) from all the villages in Pakse district. Many tourists (farangs) asked to join in the parade and were dancing to sound of khene. Including in the parade was a float from the beauty pageant for Miss Boun Suang Heuar or Boat Racing Festival. It was so crowded as people were entering the temple they were asked to put out the candles for fear of fire. The Lai Heur Fai (Loy Krathong) ended with a fireworks display.
