Southern Christmas Tree

by Ginger

Christmas trees from the south should have a southern theme, unlike most themes, which begin with decorations, in the South we are all about the food. The theme on my Christmas tree this year is called the 80s country Christmas theme, as the decorations are made out of dried apples, dried pears, dried okras, dried mushrooms, cinnamon sticks, berries, wooden reindeers, and much more. The Christmas tree of course is very much alive, and to top it off, I have 3 angels.

As I was buying the Christmas tree, something made me think of my younger sister’s friend of the time when we were little, every time when she saw the Christmas tree, she always said, “Look, it’s sticking its middle finger at me.” I’m beginning to see it her way also, hint, look at the tip of the Christmas tree. All I’m missing now is some gifts underneath my tree; I hope you have fun shopping. :)

  1. Yummy beautiful. That could be my meal for a week. Why did you have to bring up the "finger" part? I’m just going to ignore that. I like this idea of a Christmas tree. It has a more homely and personal touch to it than the typical shinny ornaments and glitter strings all over.

Have a Merry Christmas and take lots of photos around the tree for years to come. :)

  2. Hi Darly, I knew you and Salat would like this theme.  As for the finger, Hehe, that was over 23 years ago when she told that to me, and I’ve never seen the Christmas trees in the same light again, ever, she had ruined it for me.  It’s somewhat amusing how little kid think, they just say it as how they see and feel at the time, we grew up in NYC, and she was a deviant little girl.

  3. Lovely looking Christmas tree.  I love the cute reindeer pine cone and the raffia straw Angels too.   I have some dried pomegranates and cotton seeds that I use as holiday decorations too.

Btw, where’s the "sugared ginger" candy on that tree?  They are good, sweet and spicy all in one.  :)

  4. Hi Salat, I think food items are great for Christmas decoration.  I never thought of  the "sugared ginger" candy, thanks for the idea. :)
