I was on one of these barges at Khong and the engine stalled. It seemed like nobody else was really concerned, but I couldn’t help but think about those huge waterfalls downriver!
I hope you know how to swim. I can’t swim and it was quite frightening and exciting at the same time to be on that thing. I kept wondering what if it breaks apart or what if I just fall over the water. Soon the road will be completed and a new route to Vat Phu will be easier but I bet many people will miss the buk.
