Lakorn Pood Mae Nam Kong, role offered to Alexandra Bounxouei

weir and jui

Seeing Weir Sukollawat on the cover of Koosang Koosom Magazine made me think of Alexandra Bounxouei, and this could be her on the cover with Weir if she had accepted the role for Lakorn ‘Pood Mae Nam Kong’, which the part was offered to Alexandra but she turned it down because she decided to accept the role for ‘Ray Rai Louk Sao Pa’ and most importantly she is in the process of signing a recording contract with one of the Thai music production companies. According to Alexandra,

“At first, Sandra was going to accept the role for ‘Pood Mae Nam Kong’ also, but later on decided not to because I accepted the role for Lakorn, ‘Ray rai Louk Sao Pa’ and could only choose one due to time. The truth is, Sandra really want to play the role but Sandra have to go back to school for a master’s degree program in Media design in Tokyo and will be gone for 2 years, and will be leaving around April of this year.

I regret not being able to play the role but I have to accept the fact that time doesn’t permit. As for Sandra, education always comes first, after graduation, I will return and pick up where I left off, especially singing, it’s very important to me. Currently, Sandra is expecting to sign a recording contract with one of the Thai music production companies in Thailand, but Sandra can’t tell you right now as to which company.”

The leading lady that will take her place in ‘Pood Mae Nam Kong’ is Jui Warattaya Nilkuha, and this is going to be a ghost/fantasy drama. I love ghost story, and looking forward to watching this Lakorn.

  1. Thanks for the post Nye. It is a pity that Sandra can’t play the role. She could have done that and go to school in Japan in the fall. A few months won’t hurt at all since she won’t be working and studying at the same time for 2 years. But I am sure she will be fine financially having a contract with a Thai record company. Maybe she will do a few concerts during break times.

I can’t wait to watch this lakorn either. It looks really good. I  watched a couple of Thai ghost lakorn last year and the year before. It’s not so scary, not like when I was a little kid in Laos. I had a very imaginative mind and even though I didn’t get to watch ghost story on TV and only listened to Thai soap on radio I was always afraid of the sounds of dog, you know ma hon? You know that’s when pee or ghost is coming!

  2. I feel the same way, she could easily start school in the fall, I think this role is more suitable for her and she wouldn’t have to play the role of the ghost either. I think as Laotian, we all are connected to the Mekong River in someway and I would think that this alone would make her want to play this Lakorn and would try to work things out as far as timing.

Too bad for her fans that want to see her with Weir again. The Lakorn is about a mysterious belief of the Issan people about the ghost of Mekong. Weir plays 2 roles, one in the present, and another in the past life, so we can expect to see a serene way of life in the old days.

  3. Even Jui, when she played a ghost in her previous lakorn, she passed out because she played a role of a ghost, and i guess a real one got into her..I am still mad at the fact that sandra rejected this, but i understand that she has to do this for her education, and that she will come back in 2010 to do another lakorn with weir…if only if only..hehe

  4. Hi Champa,

You must be a die hard fan since you even have the user name of Champa. :)

Yes, it is a pity that she rejected the role. School in Japan must be different and that you would have to be there for the summer term perhaps. Here in Europe it’s the same in the US, with the fall and spring terms, starting in September and January.

Maybe she needs to get there early to get used to living in Japan but she could have used the extra money with this lakorn because she will be studying for the next two years and won’t be able to work much, unless she has concert tours and more album coming out.

Hopefully the fans won’t forget her too easily. Two years is a long time and with so many talented artists coming out of Laos and being exported to Thailand, some fans might not be as die hard, well not the Lao fans anyway. The Thai fans would still be there for her I think.
