- Darly : For few people that can afford a machine like my uncle in Ban Dannavieng who bought a second hand one it is still expensive like $10,000 in cash.
- Darly : Ginger: The majority of the people still harvest rice the old fashion way, like mother and daughters of the rice field I posted about.
- Ginger : Darly: would be nice to see the old fashion way of harvesting, but even in Laos or Thailand, many are using tractors now to harvest. I know Thailand do, but not so sure about Laos.

Amazing.
The people so much in a hurry. They should stop and let the monks cross the road. They need cop to direct traffic when the monks are doing their round.
Maybe I am just old fashion but I bow (If I was standing up) and put my hand together when a monk walk pass me.

Things have changed in Laos. Maybe it’s something to do with the foreign influences. If you look at many videos you’ll see mostly old women doing the Morning Alms Giving. Even when we were kids we would get up early in the morning to make sticky rice and go tuk bhat before going to school. Now it seems people are so busy or parents don’t teach their kids to do the daily rituals like that.
My cousins in Pakse for example don’t even do the Morning Alms Giving, not even once a week and some of them don’t have a job to go to. They only go to the temple when there is a boun at night for food and music.
That is really sad I think. In the US people would say it’s hard to get their kids to attend Church services when they are a teenager. Well, in Laos you can say it’s hard to get the kids to go to the temple unless it’s for a good party.
