Lao Voices

My aunt and cousins went to Patuxay Park last month and took some photos for us. She told me how she has been living in Vientiane since 1975 and has never been up to the top of Patuxay. In the past many people were too afraid to go up to the roof because the stair was not sturdy enough. Since the renovation of Patuxay, local residents and tourists alike are flocking to this special place for a view of Vientiane.

As a former resident of Vientiane, I have never been to the roof top of Patuxay myself. My parents took me to this place many times but we only walked under the arch. The next time I am in Laos, I will definitely visit Patuxay Park during the day time and check out the entire structure from top to bottom.
