One Day in Loei
This is a video by James Quilty: Yui and I returned to Loei in North-central Thailand last September to try the awesome Saparot (pineapple) and eat at the floating restaurant. We visited a strange monk and saw the Blyth Monkeys in the trees and a reclining Buddha in the caves.
I think Loei is what Thai people called it LA, not Los Angeles, CA, but Loiett, Issan speaking region of Thailand. This is an amusing video to watch, especially the monk with all the tattoos and weapons. Enjoy.

This monk seems to be practicing a combination of Buddhism and Shamanism. I don’t dismiss this type of believe but it is not Theravada Buddhism I practice. In fact, my father have many amulets, kata, and sakyan tattoo as well. Many Laotians I know also accept it as the only type of Buddhism.
Ajahn Mun, Ajanh Sao, and Ajahn Chah are followers of Thai Forest Tradition (Kammatthana). I would love to see this tradition spread throughout Laos.
