Aunt Kian went grocery shopping for the day and was tempted with several Lao dishes, all prepared and ready to be bought in a platic bag for a nice home cooked meal without the cooking. Check out some of the famous Lao dishes that many of us grew up with. I have my own favorite dishes but most of them are without meat.

Here are some Lao stew and curry at a market in Vientiane.

I love to eat vegetables and for Lao traditional dish khau nor mai is my favorite. When I go home each summer I would ask my mother to make me the dish without meat of course. Normally you would put pork in khua nor mai or fried bamboo shoots.

Simple vegetables stir fry with soy sauce, salt and pepper is delicious and healthy.

Mok Kai Pa or steamed fish eggs is quite delicious. The last time I ate this was when I was a little kid in Laos. I will have to try it again in the near future.
