Laos at Bejing Olympics
A clip of Lao Olympians at the introduction of the Olympics in Bejing 2008. It is barely a minute but great to see the Lao team make an appearance on such an event
Sorry no video for now.

Yes, great to see Lao athletes in the olympics
but why just a few people?
One of the Thai commentator keep repeating. Lao-Ouw, Lao-Ouw, Lao-Ouw, instead of just saying Lao. I don’t speak Thai. Can someone please translate the conversation leading to that?
The reason for not many Lao athletes I am assuming they many in the first place and if they did they must not have qualified to enter the competition. Money was probably another factors.
Dallas, translation “…the purpose and target of the Olympic is not to win, but all countries come together and join as one. The overall picture is friendship and freedom (sunteeparp, I think is freedom). Our neighboring country 60, Lao ouw, the Chinese language pronounced as Lao ouw, in the past it was called Lao oue, but currently it’s called Lao ouw.”
Wow, LaoVoices has a new look. Very refreshing
And thanks Darly for posting this clip. I actaully missed it on tv. And thanks Ginger for the translation. The Chinese call us Lao ouw, we call them “Jech” or “Jeen”
i wonder what sport they played ?.? table tennis, Ga- thou ? (if its spelled correctly)
Hi Seattle, I just wondered same thing as you, but I did see Laos compete in Men 50 meters swimming.
In the first day openning ceremony, the guy that carried the Laotion
flag might participate in Tract and Field, because it said “Tract and Field” on the T.V. screen. I don’t know what else that they participate in beside those two sports. As far as “Takrow” I don’t
think they included in the Olympic game yet, in Asian game and Sea game they called “Sepak Takrow” for years I have been wanting to see the professional play on video, now I found it at Youtube.com.
If you want to see it just go to youtube.com then type in “sepak takrow”, you will see some of the best players in the world compete,
not like the guys we use to see at the park.
