Perd Heuane Perd Chai or Open House Open Heart from Lao Star Channel is a TV show about home and style, with tips and tricks segments for interior decorations and home improvements. The best part of Open House Open Mind is the showcase of homes around the country.
This episode shows the most impressive example of Lao Derm architecture. The house was built in 1993 using woods from a previous building and mixed with new wood. It is completely constructed in a Lao traditional style called Lao Derm. This house is no longer used as a living quarter but as a place for Lao silk weaving company. What makes this Lao Derm house unique is the intricate woodcarving designs in various places. The staircase to the house for example has an arching roof with carvings that you would normally find at a Wat or Lao temple.
