The groundbreaking ceremony was held on Saturday to officially kick off three improvement projects for Vientiane city. The national esplanade improvement project, the establishment of Xaysettha Park and the new Unknown Soldier Monument will cost about 5 million US dollars and expected to complete ahead of the 450th anniversary of the capital’s transfer from Luang Prabang to Vientiane in 2010 and the 60th anniversary of the Lao People’s Army on January 20, 2009.
