Additional photos of Wat Keopa in Vientiane. I didn’t have much time to spend at the temple because aunt Kian was getting ready to catch a bus to Pakse. This temple is where the majority of the funeral in the area would take place.

Menu Today Lao Cooking Show from Lao Star Channel. Today’s recipes are from Pakpasak Restaurant in Vientiane, located along the Mekong River. The recipes include: Thom Suar Kai, Pa Sa Ding, and Pa Nung Maak Nao.

Pakse people love to eat fish so it was not a surprise to know that aunt Kian made Goy Pa again for lunch today. Nothing is to be wasted so the leftover bits and pieces went into a pot of soup with vegetables to go with the Goy Pa.
I went to Wat Keopa yesterday morning to check out the two sala trees that we have known about from aunt Kian. Here are the first set of photos for you to see. The left tree didn’t have much leaves unlike the second one.
Here are additional photos from Teacher’s Day celebration at Houaylao Elementary School on October 10, 2008. The students from the third grade to the fifth grade gave flowers and presents to their teachers to show their appreciation and gratitude for their learning experience.
The day I visited Houaylao Elementary School, the students and teachers were getting ready for the Teacher’s Day celebration. Here are the photos of the third, fourth, and fifth graders giving flowers and presents to their teachers.
What are we having for lunch and dinner today in Vientiane? For lunch it was green aubergine chutney with steamed vegetables on a side.
For dinner aunt Kian made Khua Nor Mai or stir fried bamboo shoots and fried potatoes with sweet and sour dipping sauce.
For lunch today it was Goy Pa with a nice jeow or dipping sauce to go with and various Lao vegetables served on a side. What a nice meal with warm sticky rice and a bowl of fish soup to wash down the goy pa.
On October 10, 2008 I visited Houaylao Elementary School in Pakse for the first time. This school is home to one of our book boxes. I first went to meet the administrator of the school.
