Of course this tradition of dining at That Luang square after the Morning Alms Giving ceremony can be an expensive experience. Even I thought the food was not cheap, especially when a whole chicken is priced at 60,000 Kips (not including head and internal parts) and soup stock is extra. That was about 6 Euros for one chicken and yes it is expensive since I know many people that make 50 Euros a month for a salary and to dine at That Luang square after Tak Bat ceremony is a luxury and not a necessity. For those that can afford this tradition, then it’s good time to sit and dine among friends and family members and share good story, providing you can find a good spot to hide from the rising heat.
