(KPL) Department of Social Welfare, the National Disaster Office, has said the flood victims in four flood-hit provinces Attapeu, Saravan, Sekong and Savannakhet are in need of rice, household utensils, clothes, medicines and makeshift houses.

The report from the department was raised last Friday at a press conference at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on evaluation of the damage caused by flood in the southern provinces that the victims also asked for the provision of crops and animal species, and assistance for repairing irrigation and transportation systems to ensure their agriculture production and restore living condition of the victims.
According to the department, twelve thousand one hundred and forty-two households in five districts in Attapeu province were reportedly affected from the flood caused by Ketsana typhoon. Sekong province had four districts suffering from the flood, which swept away 364 houses in the province, including 116 in Kaleum district and 248 in Lamam district. In addition 610 houses were damaged including 142 houses in Kaleum and 468 houses in Lamam. Meanwhile, Saravan province had four districts flooded. These included Saravan, Sameuay, Wapi and Khongsedon and 3,936 families in 123 villages in these districts are suffering from the flood.
The biggest and most populous province Savannakhet reported the flood had suffered two districts of Sepon and Nong with 2,488 households in 29 villages are suffering from the flood and seven houses were badly damaged.
