Farang and Laotians give aid to victims of typhoon Ketsana

KPL) Owner of Pakse Hotel, Mr Jerome Letemplier, and his friends provided relief aid to the villagers of Songkhone, Lamam district, Sekong province, on 8 November as they suffered from the destructive force of typhoon Ketsana, which hit southern Laos during the last days of September.

Mr Jerome Letemplier, Mattasak Phosanarack and wife and his friends from other countries pooled their donations worth 52 million kip. One of the donors was the Branch Manager of Diethelm Travels in Pakse and his wife Mrs Moune and their donation was worth 1.5 million kip. Another donor was Mr Some, owner of a restaurant, Xuan Mai, in Pakse district, who donated food and clothes to the victims.

The donations included rice, noodles, sugar, iodized salt, mosquito nets, carpet, soap, rice cooking pots, water containers, education materials and sports gears.

Mr Jerome said that this was the second relief aid for Songkhone village. The first batch, worth 10 million kip, was presented on 11 October.

Songkhone village has a population of more than 400 people in 48 households, 78 families. The village is dominated by two ethnic groups – Alak and Nge.
