Vendors are not permitted to sell food or products inside the National Stadium during the SEA Games, the Chairman of the SEA Games Organising Committee said yesterday.

Standing Deputy Prime Minister Somsavat Lengsavad, who is also Chairman of the SEA Games Organising Committee, told the responsible authorities he does not want vendors to sell goods inside the stadium during the games, which will run from December 9-18.
“We have already allocated space for parking, food stalls, toilets and other conveniences outside the stadium.
“I’ve informed the committee that we have allowed some businesses to set up parking areas, food stalls and other facilities for spectators in front of the stadium.”
The committee instructed a company to halt the set up of food stalls inside the stadium last week, but they continued to do so. It is now the responsibility of the Marketing and Benefit Committee to ensure the company puts a stop to their activities.
When approached over the issue the company concerned said many local and international businesses had already reserved the company’s booths.
The committee has previously stated there will be no food stalls inside the National Stadium.
“If spectators want to eat there will be food stalls outside the stadium, along with toilets, telephone booths and money exchange units,” Mr Somsavat said.
