Savannakhet to add more flights to support increasing passengers
(KPL) The Lao Airlines has a plan to add more international flights between Vientiane, Bangkok and Savannakhet after seeing the growth in the provincial economy.

The plan of additional flights are expected to take effect early next year to support the increasing number of passengers on the air route, Mr Phouminh Vanavong, the director of Savannakhet branch of the Lao Airlines – the national carrier, said late last month.
After the reopening of the flights between Vientiane and Savannakhet province in last August, the number of domestic and international passengers has been on the rise. For instance, between last year’s mid-August to the end of last year, the number of outbound passengers was about 500 while that of inbound passengers was 480. But now those numbers have doubled.
Mr Phouminh added that the Savannakhet branch of the Lao Airlines was serving the flights on Vientiane-Savannakhet-Siem Reap, Luang Prabang-Savannakhet-Siem Reap and Savannakhet-Bangkok routes.
