Government takes steps to prevent wildlife trafficking

(KPL) The Agriculture and Forestry sector of Vientiane held a forum to discuss how to prevent the trading of the animals in the wild and aquatic creature in Vientiane Capital on 17 November.

This event was chaired by Mr Khamsing Khounsavanh, Deputy Head of the Agriculture and Forestry sector of Vientiane.

The other people who attended were owners of restaurants, managers of wet markets and concerned officials.

Mr Khamsing urged the owners of restaurants and the managers of wet markets to be conscious of the laws on the protection of wildlife and aquatic creatures.

He told the restaurant owners not to cook the meat of such creatures for any dish in their premises and for the owners of wet markets he said they should see to it that the market traders would not buy and sell such creatures in the premises under their jurisdiction.

The objective of the discussion was to protect and conserve the living creatures that live in the wild in Laos.
