Luang Prabang twins with French Chinon

Luang Prabang, a UNESCO-declared world heritage town, decided to regard Chinon of the Republic of France, to be its sister town.

Both provinces signed an agreement to cement this township friendship on 10 November in Luang Prabang province.

The signatories to the agreement were Vice Governor of Luang Prabang, Dr Khampheng Saysomphone, and Deputy-Governor of Chinon, Mr. Yves Daugue, who is also a senator of Indre et Loire, the Republic of France. French ambassador to Laos, Mr. Francoise Senemaud and relevant officials in the province witnessed the signing.

According to the three-year contract, the two parties would focus on enhancing capacity building of officials of Luang Prabang province in the development and the protection of the world heritage town, Luang Prabang.
Situated in northern Laos, Luang Prabang is the ancient royal capital of the Kingdom of Lane Xang and the jewel of tourism of the region.
