Fire in Luang Prabang causes over 2.5 billion kip loss

(KPL) Luang Prabang suffered the most severe fire in five years when the flames claimed eleven booths in a market next to the Northern Bus Terminal of Luang Prabang province on 14 December.

“The flames, reportedly caused by electric disturbance, caused a loss of over 2.5 billion kip,” said Head of the Fire Brigade of Luang Prabang province, Lt. Gen. Khamngeun Thitsaphone.

However, he said that the damage of the fire maybe higher. The flames began at around 03:30 a.m before sweeping swiftly over eleven booths and burned all down.

“Firemen spent more than three hours to distinguish the flames,” said Mr. Khamngeun. “Everyone should be cautious with electricity consumption in the dry season to prevent unpredicted incidents,” dvised Mr. Khamngeun.
