Vietnamese company to conduct feasibility study on Nongtha land and wetland development

(KPL) Vientiane Capital administration has allowed the Accommodation and Urban Joint Development Group (Vietnam) to conduct a feasibility study on Nongtha Land and Wetland Development project in Nongtha village, Chanthaboury district, Vientiane.

Both sides signed a memorandum of understanding on such a development on 16 December in Vientiane.

According to the document the Vietnamese company will conduct a three-month study on the possibility of implementing the development of hotel, restaurant, guesthouse, tourism sites and leisure parks on Nongtha wetland area, which cover 75 ha of land in Chanthaboury district.

The project is designed to attract more investment and promote tourism for Nongtha wetland area in Nongtha village.

The document also says that if the project is economically beneficial the company will invest in developing and operating the project within 50 years.

The company has committed to spending US$1.5 million to compensate local people affected from the project.
Signatories to the document were Deputy Head of the Vientiane Planning and Investment Service, Mr. Bounpone Sisoulath, and Director General of the Accommodation and Urban Joint Development Group, Mr. Nguyen Van Bach at the witness of relevant officials of both sides.
