Foreign aid helps improve education in Laos
(KPL) The Ministry of Education of Laos, Save the Children Norway and Save the Children Australia signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on cooperation on school quality improvement programme in Vientiane on Wednesday, December 23.

The Programme will be implemented in 2009-2014 period with a grant of US$ 8.7 million from Save the Children Norway, Save the Children Australia and the United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF).
The programme is designed to help 100,000 preschool children or children under five in nine districts in three provinces of Luang Prabang, Borikhamsay, and Sayaboury gain an access to education.
The programme is also designed to promote awareness raising on preschool and primary education for communities, improve document archival system in schools, the training for teachers on teaching preschool classes, the construction of preschools and basic facilities and the promotion of capacity building for preschool and primary school teachers as well as the promotion of the establishment and administration of community on educational development in communities.
