30th anniversary of Lao women’s newspaper marked
(KPL) The Lao Women’s Union on Tuesday marked the 30th founding anniversary of the Lao women’s newspaper.

The Lao women’s newspaper is a voice of Lao women and a representative of the Lao Women’s Union, which was established on 8 March 1980s with the aim of disseminating the Party’s policy, socio-economic development plan of the state, the resolution of Lao women and promotion of fine traditional culture of the nation.
The celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Lao Women’s newspaper (08/03/1980-08/03/2010) held under the presidency of Ms. Sisay Leudethmounsone, member of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee, the President of Lao Women’s Union. Mr. Bosengkham Vongdala, Deputy Minister of Information and Culture, and officials concerned took part in the event.
Ms. Sisay said that over the past 30 years, the Lao Women’s newspaper contributed to the promotion of Lao women’s role and duties, dissemination of the Party’s policy, socio-economic development plan, social circumstances, law, rule, women’s development plan, history of the Lao Women’s Union, fine traditional culture, ethnic Lao women and even the development and protection of women’s role.
Ms. Sisay said, “At the beginning, the Lao Women’s newspaper was a monthly newspaper consisting of 16 pages and 12 columns, with a circulation of 3,000 to 5,000 copies.”
The Lao Women’s Union also has its own radio programme, Lao women television programme and magazine.
