The Meteorology and Hydrology Department has warned residents of Borikhan district, Borikhamxay province to prepare for flash flooding.

The Meteorology and Hydrology Department has warned residents of Borikhan district, Borikhamxay province to prepare for flash flooding with continuous rain expected over the next few days.official said, Borikhan district has many small rivers and it is used to being under the threat of flash flooding, so it should be on alert from July 26-30.

It is predicted that, rain will continue to fall across the country from July 24 until July 30, but central and southern parts of Laos must be particularly wary of possible flooding.

After scattered showers and heavy rain through the period in central and southern Laos, rains are expected to ease over July 29 and 30. The rainy season forces villagers, road travellers and authorities to be on high alert for natural disasters.

Flash flooding and landslides have been known to occur, so checking weather forecasts can help to plan ahead based on accurate knowledge of the daily rain situation.
