Laos sends athletes to compete in 17 sports in Asian Games

(KPL) Lao PDR has sent athletes to compete in 17 sports in the 17th Asian Games, in Incheon, Republic of Korea, scheduled for 19 Sept- 4 Oct.

A delegation of 160 Lao athletes, trainers and referees was accompanied by the General Director of Sports Department, Mr Sengphone Phon Amad.

The 17 sports include track and field, swimming, football, sepak trakaw, judo, rugby, karate-do, taekwondo, wushu, cycling, boxing, shooting, tennis, archery, wrestling and golf. Laos hopes to gain some gold medals in this event although the country won one silver medal in wushu in the 15th Asian Games in Doha, Qatar in 2006.

While other athletes are just beginning to depart for their competitions, the men’s football team has already played its beginning match.
