The project will involve the construction of the Khonphapheng Resort, a golf course and casino in Khong district’s Thakhor village, and a survey for the construction of a four star hotel at Vangtao border checkpoint in Phonthong district.

The Director of Champassak provincial Department of Planning and Investment, Mr Saythong Xayavong, and Deputy Director of the Department of Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr Sivone Vangkonvilay, represented the provincial authorities, while the Managing Director of Solar Entertainment Corporation, Mr Jack Mitchell, and their Lao representative, Mr Somphone Somvandy, were present to sign the MoU.

The Governor of Champassak province, Dr Sonexay Siphandone, witnessed both parties signing the agreement. This follows the government’s plan to develop certain areas of the province as special economic zones.

The development project, which will cost around US$50 million, also aims to build up new tourist centres in Khong and Phonthong districts to meet the needs of the growing number of visitors.
