US Ambassador hosts 4th of July reception

The United States Ambassador hosts a reception celebrating U.S. Independence Day, which falls on the 4th of July

Ambassador of the United States, Daniel A. Clune hosted a reception to celebrate the 238th anniversary of American independence. According to the ambassador, over the past year, the friendship and cooperation between our countries has continued to grow in ways that many would have thought impossible only a short time ago.

Ambassador of The United States, Daniel A. Clune hosted a reception to celebrate the 238th anniversary of American independence on Friday the 4th of July in Vientiane Capital.

Speaking at the gathering where attended by Minister of Planning and Investment Somdy Douangdy, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alounkeo Kittikhoun and high-ranking officials from Lao government, representatives from embassies, and international organizations. US Ambassador to Laos, Daniel A. Clune said, he is greatly honoured to have the opportunity to serve as American’s new Ambassador to the Lao PDR.

The US Ambassador and his wife extend also extend their heartfelt greetings to the people of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic. He said, “I am proud to say that, over the past year, the friendship and cooperation between our countries has continued to grow in ways that many would have thought impossible only a short time ago”.

According to the ambassador, today, the United States contributes more than $38 million annually in bilateral assistance to Laos. We have made great progress working together as partners in clearing unexploded ordnance from the Indochina conflict and in accounting for American personnel missing in action.

He said, we have expanded our bilateral cooperation across the board in key areas, including in combatting infectious diseases, protecting the environment, supporting the education system, and providing training to Lao students and government officials. This year marks the 10th year of the normalization of U.S.– Lao trade relations, and we continue to work to increase U.S. trade and investment in Laos.
