First IP Fair will be held from April 24-30 to celebrate World Intellectual Property Day
Introduction: The Ministry of Science and Technology will organise the IP Fair 2015 next month to commemorate World Intellectual Property Day, which falls on April 26. This first ever IP Fair comes with the slogan “Strengthening Intellectual Property for Sustainable Socio-Economic Development.”
Story: Minister of Science and Technology Professor Dr Boviengkham Vongdara told media during a press conference that this first fair will highlight the work in intellectual property both in Laos and also internationally.
Dr Boviengkham noted that the fair aims to build awareness and proper understanding among scientists, creators, inventors and students about the role and importance of intellectual property, particularly patents, copyright, industrial design rights and trademarks.
The IP Fair will give opportunities for the government and the private sector along with both international and local creators and entrepreneurs especially those from Asean countries to come to meet, exchange, trade and show off their new intellectual property works.
The fair is scheduled to run from April 24-30 at the Lao International Trade Exhibition and Convention Centre (Lao ITECC) in Vientiane.
