The government on Wednesday presented a friendship medal to the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Laos, Mr Lee Gun Tae, marking the end of his mission in Laos which ran from 2010 to 2013, according to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Foreign Minister Dr Thongloun Sisoulith represented the government in awarding the medal on the occasion of a farewell visit to the ministry by Mr Lee.

Dr Thongloun, who is also Deputy Prime Minister, praised the achievements of Mr Lee’s term of office in Laos, which he said contributed to enhancing the friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries.

Korea has provided assistance to Laos in many areas, notably in helping to achieve the targets set under the country’s national socio-economic development plans.

The Korean Ambassador acknowledged the cooperation and assistance provided by the Lao government, particularly the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, throughout his three-year mission to Laos.

Mr Lee said he hoped the Lao government would continue to cooperate with the incoming Korean ambassador to further develop the good relations and cooperation between the two countries.
