Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Forestry reaffirms on t Laos’ Agriculture sector the potential to compete in the ASEAN market
Although Laos is lacking behind in the Agriculture sector compared to the other ASEAN countries, however Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Dr. Phouang-Parisack Pravongviengkham says that, the country has potential to compete in ASEAN market using our own strengths of the Lao current agricultural capacity while learning more from other ASEAN members country in order to compete and sustain in the ASEAN Economic Community from 2015.
Deputy Minister, Dr. Phouang-Parisack Pravongviengkham made the statement during an interview with our news team at the Sector Working Group on Agriculture and Rural Development Meeting recently, where the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the development partners were discussing the progress of this sector in Lao PDR especially in area of agricultural production.

Deputy Minister, Dr. Phouang-Parisack added, although Laos is lagging behind compared to other ASEAN countries in the production, but the country has a lot of potential to access and compete in the ASEAN markets with their own strengths…

According to Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Dr. Phouang-Parisack Pravongviengkham, currently under the Sector Working Group on Agriculture and Rural Development has made progress in Uplands Development Strategy, Agro Businesses, and has created an Agro Bio Diversity sub work group, and food and nutrition security taskforce to the address the urgent need of this sector.
