Story: The intention was made clear while checking the final preparations for the country’s readiness to host the 32nd Asean Energy Ministers Meeting, Minister of Energy and Mines, Soulivong Daravong said Laos will use the 32nd ASEAN Energy Ministers Meeting to promote the potential it has for energy development especially hydropower plants, and hydropower connectivity within the region.

ASEAN Energy Minister Meeting or AEMM is an ASEAN mechanism to strengthen energy cooperation to address major energy challenges and ensure a secured and reliable energy supply in the region.

It is noted that Laos, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore have agreed to integrate electricity networks, not only between two countries but it will be developed to connect all countries in agreement.
Currently, Laos is only connected to Thailand with Thailand linked to Malaysia and Malaysia to Singapore. The integration of electricity is a good stepping-stone to the ASEAN Economic Community in 2015 and will guarantee the economic growth of the ASEAN countries.
