Laos extends condolences over the passing away of the former Minister Mentor and founding Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Kuan Yew who dies aged 91

Introduction:Prime Minister of the Lao PDR Thongsing Thammavong represented the Lao government in expressing the nation’s sadness over the passing away of the passing away of the former Minister Mentor and founding Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Kuan Yew who dies aged 91.

Story:The message reads:

“I have heard with deepest sorrow of the passing away of H.E. Mr. Lee Kuan Yew, Former Minister Mentor and dounding Prime Minister of Singapore.

The demise of H.E. Lee Kuan Yew caused the loss of an outstanding leader, a founder of modern prosperous Singapore who significantly constributed to the development of the country as well as the development of the friendly ties and cooperation between the Lao People’s Democoratic Republic and Singapore and among ASEAN countries.

On Behalf of the the Government and the People of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic and on my own behalf, I would like to share this moment of sadness and sympath with the Government and People of Singapore as well as with your family and friends of the late leader Lee Kuan Yew.

Mr Lee, who was born in 1923, formed the People’s Action Party in 1954, then became Prime Minister in 1959. He led the nation through a merger with the Federation of Malaysia in 1963, as well as into Independence in 1965.

He leaves behind two sons – Lee Hsien Loong and Lee Hsien Yang – and a daughter, Lee Wei Ling.
