The Lao and Vietnamese justice ministries enhance cooperation in the justice sector

Introduction: The Lao and Vietnamese justice ministries have enhanced cooperation in the justice sector. Official said, the gathering will further promote a special solidarity, friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties and nations, particularly the respective ministries of justice.

Story: At the Monday the 18th of July meeting between the two ministries in Vientiane the Lao Justice Minister, Professor Dr Chaleun Yiapaoher said he was glad to receive the visit of the senior delegation from Vietnam, which was led by the Vietnamese Minister of Justice, Ha Hung Coung. He noted that this is the second time they’ve organised such a meeting regarding cooperation in the justice sector between the neighbouring provinces of the two countries.

He said that even though this year the Lao Ministry of Justice was faced with a budget shortage the Lao and Vietnamese justice ministries have enjoyed normal cooperation at the local level, with Vietnam providing financial, material and technical assistance in the provinces of Vientiane, Champassak, Attapeu, Saravan and Phongsaly.

The ongoing assistance is testimony to the comprehensive cooperation between the two countries led under the supervision of the Party, Ministry of Justice, and authorities of Vietnam especially Ha Hung Coung, who went to great lengths to see the assistance led to fruitful outcomes on the ground.

Dr Chaleun said there are plans to consolidate and boost the comprehensive cooperation between the two countries and two ministries by completing the cooperation agreement of the two ministries over the period from 2011-2015 with greater success.
