A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed last week between Champassak provincial authorities and Solar Entertainment Corporation for the development of tourism facilities in the province’s Khong and Phonthong districts.
The Director of Champassak provincial Department of Planning and Investment, Mr Saythong Xayavong, and Deputy Director of the Department of Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr Sivone Vangkonvilay, represented the provincial authorities, while the Managing Director of Solar Entertainment Corporation, Mr Jack Mitchell, and their Lao representative, Mr Somphone Somvandy, were present to sign the MoU.
The Governor of Champassak province, Dr Sonexay Siphandone, witnessed both parties signing the agreement. This follows the government’s plan to develop certain areas of the province as special economic zones.
The development project, which will cost around US$50 million, also aims to build up new tourist centres in Khong and Phonthong districts to meet the needs of the growing number of visitors.
