Lao leaders receive Chairman of the Kuwait-Laos Parliamentary Friendship association

Introduction: President of the National Assembly Madame Pany Yathortou and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Thongloun Sisoulith received Kuwaiti National Assembly’s member, Chairman of the Kuwait-Laos Parliamentary Friendship association Dr. Khalil Abdullah Ali Abdullah on a working visit to Laos.

The delegation arrived in Vientiane on 9 September for a short working visit to Laos as a guest of National Assembly of Laos.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Thongloun Sisoulith welcomed the Kuwaiti-Lao parliamentary friendship committee led by Khalil Abdullah. During the talks, the Lao side lauded the cooperative relations and mutual assistances between Laos and Kuwait over the past many years contributing to the development of Laos.

Laos also proposed a Kuwaiti-Laot parliamentary friendship committee to help encourage Kuwaiti entrepreneurs to visit Laos and look for investment opportunities here.

Talking to her Kuwaiti guest, President of the National Assembly Madame Pany Yathortou praised and highly valued the visit to Laos of the delegation from the National Assembly of the State of Kuwait as milestone to further strengthen the friendship relation and cooperation between Laos and Kuwait, especially between the legislature bodies of the two countries.

She also expressed thanks to the government of the Kuwait for its past support and assistance to Laos and hoped that the State of Kuwait would continue to provide its assistance to
Laos in the future.

A bilateral meeting between a delegation from National Assembly of the State of Kuwait and Laos was also held in Vientiane on 10 September to promote the friendship relation and cooperation between Laos and Kuwait, particularly in the field of legislature matter.

During the meeting, which jointly chaired by Dr. Khalil Abdullah Ali Abdullah and his Lao counterpart Latsanivong Amarathithada, the sides informed each other on their respective social-economic development and reviewed the cooperation between Kuwait and Laos made since 2008.

During the past few years, the cooperation between Laos and Kuwait in the field of trade has still in the small number but the government of Kuwait has provided some of grant aid and loan to Laos for its energy development. The sides also supported each other in the regional and international stages.
